Having A Plan!

It's been another few days of nothingness here. With the days passing pretty uneventful, housework, schoolwork, the odd walk, the kids being out for 5 minutes then coming back in due to fights and arguments. I'm a lover of making routines and plans but not such a lover of sticking to them.

I need a few tools or ideas that give the result of having a plan but don't feel boring or rigid. Back when I gave birth to my first son in 2007, I felt the endless nappies and housework mind numbing and had to find a way to make it more fun. The thought of this for years on end is depressing. I found flylady.net. This cut everything down to 'baby steps' and I feel that now, in this time, I need baby steps for every aspect of my life.

I've been living on the skid of my pants since this lockdown came along. Yes I've made plans for everything but it's almost as if, as soon as I make a plan, my goal is to reject it because it's boring. In my mind's eye, I have lived the plan when I created it so once I have to use it, it's old news. So no boring plans but a very loose fun way of keeping engaged in life, and the tasks that come with it, would be ideal.

The baby steps on flylady are fun! You feel an instant gratification by doing each of the steps and this makes you want to do more. Between shining your sink, putting your shoes on, drinking your water and her mantra of 'you can do anything for 15 minutes' is a god send. So this morning as I type on my balcony, I drink my water and the only plan I have is to shine my sink for 15 minutes. If I do nothing else today, I have achieved something. If I feel like putting on some pumping music or a podcast and do 15 minutes of tidying up then I may venture into this task too. Who knows. The main thing is, the burden has been lifted and I feel lighter, knowing that baby steps will always make my plan more enjoyable. Next week I hope to apply this to my exercise that has also been non existent apart from the odd walk.
